Re: EQUITY: Wed, Aug 8
Tue, August 7, 2007 - 11:59 AMum...
how on earth are we supposed to know what to expect without knowledge of their pizza toppings? -
-
Re: EQUITY: Wed, Aug 8
Tue, August 7, 2007 - 12:12 PMPredicting toppings is an inexact science. However, new statistical modeling techniques and advanced data visualization tools now allow us to predict the pizza toppings that a DJ will choose with ever-greater accuracy. Right now we have 95.8% confidence in the following forecast:
halon (no cheese… mushroom, pepperoni and sausage)
genji (pineapple, bacon, onions, and jalapeno)
Although, in this senior meteorologist's humble opinion, that does look suspiciously meaty for a Wednesday night at Il Pirata...

Tue, August 7, 2007 - 12:55 PMi don't want to play god or anything, but i "predict" an unexpected sharp drop in the animal consumption index in the next 24hrs, and forecast a bright sunny day wednesday for all our friends (including the pigs). -

Re: an all-bacon pizza?
Wed, August 8, 2007 - 3:56 PMWhat is everyone’s obsession over bacon about?
Actually, don’t answer that question.
I second Mary- ew. -

Re: an all-bacon pizza?
Wed, August 8, 2007 - 4:23 PMas my friend Josh was saying, while we smelled a camp stove frying bacon on its way to a cracked out dance floor deep in the forest... our generation was raised with all this information about health, and we know to worry about cholesterol levels and everything. so bacon is like, truly decadent!
you know, dude, we're gonna get a bunch of kids together, and some music, and go somewhere people don't always go, and then we're gonna drink and smoke and get funky and EAT SOME BACON... word. it's the new party drug.
watch out tho kids, it's almost as addictive as smack, and also it accumulates in your spinal fluid and puts holes in your brain. :P -

Re: an all-bacon pizza?
Wed, August 8, 2007 - 5:04 PMso off topic, but needs to be said...
bacon eaters' souls or health isn't really that much of an issue. self destruction is sad. irresponsibility is something else:
environmental destruction:

cruelty to animals:

Re: an all-bacon pizza?
Wed, August 8, 2007 - 11:57 PMI tend to agree- the size and concentration (and profit-only motives) of heavily industrialized farming operations leads to just those sorts of problems, and it's sad. humans have been raising hogs for a long time, but these extremes of factory farming are pretty new! unfortunately, even in light of public safety and sustainability issues and allegations of inhumane treatment at many facilities, I doubt governments around the world are going to do enough, if anything, to curtail these practices. so, it's up to us.
many folks choose not to consume any animal products at all for personal reasons. if that's combined with some other responsible buying habits, it's also a way to reduce harm and environmental impact. but more generally, people with all sorts of diets can help reduce the problems of industrialized farming by acquiring our food (meat or otherwise!) from local sources, supporting sustainable and responsible farming practices, and eating a diet without very large quantities of meat or processed foods.
therefore, stephanie, I suggest we split a small niman ranch free-range bacon pizza, made from all california ingredients, with whole wheat crust and organic cheese and homemade sauce and.... oh...
damn... why'd I do that? midnight snack time. (no, not bacon) -

Re: an all-bacon pizza?
Thu, August 9, 2007 - 3:45 PMNot off subject!
It’s a serious issue on all ends.
A definition for irresponsibility: working for Farm Sanctuary to help clean up other people’s thoughtless choices.
Then one will know just how nasty the facts get.

There was a rumor
Wed, August 15, 2007 - 1:08 PMthat Bacon made an appearance at Priceless. It thought it was booked solid that weekend, but managed to get away for a 15-pack tour of Belden. Bacon would like it to be known that it was 100% "organic" non-commercially farmed pork, in the spirit of not killing the planet. Just our arteries, which is a personal choice. Like being ... a PC user or a neon-faux-fur wearer. Of course, the harm those 2 products do to the world can also be debated...

Wed, August 8, 2007 - 4:00 PMNot surprising, given the current state of pork barrel politics.
