Re: thank you
Sun, July 23, 2006 - 10:01 PMrealizing that parts of yourself you thought were dead are far from it
... priceless
watching brian finally fucking get in the water on sunday and stop being such an irritable (but simultaneously adorable) bee-atch
... priceless
watching some of the best (and certainly most beautiful) hoopers and dancers in the bay area kick up dust, gnarly boogers be damned
... priceless
reading the sign in the chill tent about puddling with your new best friends right before a new best friend dived into your lap
... priceless
singing along to jack black's remake of "let's get it on" with amy loudly on the way home, holding hands, distracting ourselves from the sweet sorrow of parting the party
... priceless
slam dancing with mosaic, before he went down for the count
... priceless

Mon, July 24, 2006 - 9:41 AM...finally finding the playa-covered, flare-burned PANTs to your goddamn mint-green leisure suit after they've been lost for five years, and getting a chance to wear it almost immediately....
really really damn priceless.
I loved each and evey little bit of that campout. I never imagined I would be able to dance friday night, saturday day, and saturday night in all that heat... thanks for making me ! -

Re: thank you
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 10:29 AMI am tired, sunburned, bruised, sore, misquito bitten and did I say tired?
~~~~>and I would not change it for the world.
What an amazing place and weekend
~~~>FP and DL you know how to do it right. God damn!
And thanks to the small search party who came looking for me
~~~~> I was blissed out of my head floating down the river- where I
found a small beach to lie down in the shade-not aware at all at how long I had been gone.
The whole weekend definately PRICELESS!!!
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 12:35 PM... Showing your friends from London and Sweden how we do it proper here, without having to drag them to the dessert for a week.
The troubled youth laptop trio rocked our socks. 'Best music I've heard for ages' says my muso-dork pal.
Thanks ever so, kids. Lots of love went into that and it showed.
Re: thank you
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 12:46 PMThanks to everyone who came out to support our nature-nestled weekend! Hearing all your appreciative comments...are truly PRICELESS and makes it all worthwhile.
After this weekend DownLow confesses that it has a massive crush on False Profit and my guess is that you'll see more collaborations & co-minglings of sultry bass-laden events under the stars in the future... -
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 1:07 PMSatsi has a crush on all of you!!
Wow, what a weekend. I'm having a hard time thinking straight, but hot damn, if that wasn't the Time of my Life. Thanks to everyone who put this together and to all the lovely dancers, musicians, and freaks who brought their A+ games to the River for the hootenanny.
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 2:01 PMI have to agree with Regan~~~>
we need to make this an anual event/holiday!!
(I would bypass BM for this anyday)
and would definitely help out to make it happen again.
I just still can't get over how awesome the whole weekend was,
Re: thank you
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 1:28 PMit's truly an amazing weekend when i work my ass off in the heat and sun, dance my ass off in the heat and sun, suffer a fairly miserable drive home and arrive exhausted, blistered, and barely able to think straight, and yet have zero regrets and only the loveliest of memories dancing in my (still somewhat dizzy from heatstroke) head.
perhaps, and i do not say this lightly, 'twas the best party i've ever had the pleasure of attending. the FP/DL crew is unstoppable. (and Belden Town rocks!). everyone deserves all the merit badges received, especially the crew for putting up and striking that elaborate set-up in 100+ degree heat, and smiling all the while.
mad love~ -
Re: thank you
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 2:16 PMWhoa. Double whoa. It really was an incredible weekend.
My priceless moment: just looking out at everyone spread out at the beach party, swimming, dancing, frolicking, gulping down liquored up sno-cones and generally without a care in the world.
So many people gladly put in so much time and effort to make so many other people so happy. And the weekend went off better than anyone could have expected. Thanks to everyone who believed in us and showed up for an epic time.
Hmmmm . . . next year . . . .
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 12:08 PMyeah i gotta give props to my boy with the MOAST.
somehow i danced more and harder to this 'downtempo' (which it truly was, somehow) than i did to any other music.
i look forward to what this broiled musician extrodinaire brings us in the coming years... -
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 2:53 PMWOW!
THANK YOU to FALSE PROFIT and DOWN LOW!
this was a legendary weekend for me and will be way up high on my list of best memories.
both FP and DL are serious about making fun happen and it shows in the quality of the good times they provide. get these professional fun makers to collaborate and the outcome is, well... PRICELESS!
at risk of sounding like an award ceremony speech...
Thank you to the fabulous miss orange for the many ways of ensuring my attendence.
Thank you to kyle for the round-trip ride and to dabu for being part of it.
Thank you to every single person i met and all those i got to know - you made my weekend.
realizing that there really are strangers who will provide when unknown friends are in need...
wowing a group of children by pointing out the stars...
being presented with the dancing leprechaun merit badge...
discovering dozens of people i can truly relate with and realizing _i've_found_my_tribe_...
Priceless!
Re: thank you
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 3:07 PMi have felt the love building and growing all summer... i am so proud to be a part of this tribe.
anticipation of this weekend was so high and these crews absolutely gave us everything and more!
i think my favorite moment of the weekend was sunday morning with my family sitting on the stage reflecting on how different things had looked the night before... the space seemed so much bigger and SO magical (the lighting was unbelievable!) however, we are all feeling a little low and cracked with the sun intensity building and a few of our favorite musical guides missing in action. then, as if the campout had been touched by an angel... rodman is walking down the path from the left and mozaic appears from the right, breakfast is served and we are once again completely blissed in the moment... even in 105 degree weather... talk about serendipity!!
mad props and much love! -
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 6:54 PMit'd be ridiculous for me to define my favorite moment because the weekend was just one priceless continuum (and because i remember very little of friday night)...
but if i had to pick...like...if someone was making me...
...two straight hours of boreta, ooah, and kitty-d mashing it up with such intensity that the bodies on the floor were dancing with impossible greatness...priceless.
i mean, seriously people, that shit was silly crazy.
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 11:55 AM> the three amigos KILLED IT!
I was *stunned* by those guys. The music all weekend was top-tier, but those guys levelled me.
And thank you Satsi for the very-well-done lighting on the dance floor. It was interesting, and not the least bit overbearing. -
-
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 11:57 AMspeaking of lighting ... who was responsible for the color changing light that lit up the trees behind the dance floor? Absolutely stunning. And I won't even mention the strobe-light enhanced water sculpture down by the beach ...
oh my god, the memories of this weekend are not leaving much room for thinking about work .... -
-
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 11:59 AMColor changing lights were orchestrated by DownLow's very own lighting master, Goolie.
Water sculpture was the fabuloid creation of Piotron - yes, it is incredibly mesmerizing, isn't it? -
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 12:27 PMaww. . I loved the rainbow trees. .
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 12:30 PMthanx to everyone who came and made this event one to remember for lifetimes. Mountains of props and thanks to FP and downlow for putting so much hard work and love into it. all the little things that u did to make it enjoyable for everyone shined through. It was definteltly some of the most fun i've ever had. seeing all the happy peeps on the beach and in the river on saturday was ultimately precious and the swing dancing formal champagne evening was definetly priceless. and of course all the music/ line-up for the whole shibang was incredible! much respect FP and downlow! -
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 12:52 PMand a ditto from me as well.
vying for the '2 fucked up 2 function' badge and sleeping through my set time was worth the 10:30am moment standing between rodman and daveed (the name 'troubled youth' actually came from a caption of a pic of the 3 of us that's in my photo section), which hasn't happened in quite a while, looking out over that gorgeous scene at all the cracked-out, smiling faces of you lovely ravers enjoying a morning-after brunch and nodding your heads, awaiting more sonic assault.
priceless? fuck yeah. big big big respect and love. -
-
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 12:53 PMThat Rodman sure plays a mean pinball...
Re: thank you
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 5:28 PMI'll shoot with the tritto (tripple ditto).
FP and DL you made my summer. All the killer beats, beautiful faces, dancing aces, visual spaces and amazing places. The TY 2.5 hour sonic assault jellied my brain then Kapt'n Kirk promptly continued to liquify it while blowing up the dam holding it back so it could promptly leak out my ears and spill on the dance floor. I ain't moved that much in ages.
Still processing. Am I really allowed to have this much fun? Really?
