I have a friend who can't make it, and a sorry 2 other people who were gonna ride up with her.
They now have a ticket and extra space in their car.
I believe they are planning on stopping half way at a motel or something to break the trip up.

anyway, they would probably be willing to part with it without the ride.

I don't believe they are interested in meeting people in SF at all tho.
They might be open to meeting people on the route, however... i dunno.

Call for Art Submissions

Dear Tribesters,
The Priceless art funding committee is now accepting submissions for art installations at Priceless 2009 (July 3-5, 2009).

We're looking for pieces that relate to the site at Belden Town (and even to particular locations within Belden Town) and art that is interactive with both its environment and with the attendees of Priceless. Your piece should be intended to enrich the environment at Belden as well as the experience of its inhabitants ~ art that beautifies and engages, astonishes and surprises, thrills and enlightens!

You will be notified of whether your project has been accepted and if it has been awarded a grant on Friday, May 29th.

The average grant amount ranges between $50 and $250, with occasional exceptions for larger project needs. If your project does not require any funding, please note that in your questionnaire.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 22nd.

San Francisco, CA -- Finally, some good news for investors. Trading
volume reached a six-month high today as an announcement from False
Profit, LLC shook the floor: Priceless 2009 will be the first bailout
effort allowing everyday citizens to participate in the rebuilding of
America's economy. While Timothy Geithner's attempts to clean up after
the government's colossal failure to exert any regulatory control over
the financial industry have been alternately lauded and criticized,
False Profit's plan is being universally hailed as a "cornerstone
policy" able to turn the tide of the current economic crisis. The new
effort, which will be implemented on the July 4th weekend, was
explained as, "a way to rebuild the economy through direct
participation in activities such as swimming, dancing, frolicking and,
in general, 'acting the fool.'"

One noted expert on the history of systems failure, Benjamin Chun, put
it this way, "Look, it's like this: in the face of ongoing bailout
efforts, golden parachutes, and retention bonuses large enough to buy
small island nations, there is only one thing that will restore the
faith of American people in the market. And that thing is bass."
Apparently institutional investors couldn't agree more, as evidenced
by the skyrocketing valuations of companies in industries as diverse
as camping equipment, inner tube manufacturing and energy drinks.

With the current turmoil causing many companies to consider risky,
unproven strategies, False Profit's news that Priceless would return
to Belden for a fourth consecutive year led to an audible sigh of
relief on trading floors worldwide. Calli Beck, head of Geopolitical
Strategy for False Profit, explained the decision by emphasizing the
need to, "stay the course," and told a packed press conference, "False
Profit has hit on a winning combination of river, trees and whomp, and
we don't anticipate changing that any time soon."

Meanwhile at False Profit's corporate headquarters, faced with a
barrage of questions about the event pertaining to aspects such as the
musical lineup, range of activities and the location of "my favorite
hoody, which I lost last year," an unnamed False Profit spokesperson
had only this to say, "Online tickets will be available at 9:00 am on
Friday morning. All the other information you need is available at http://priceless.false-profit.com
right now."

"Oh yeah," the spokesperson added, "Get in shape for the season at
Spring Training, False Profit's annual outdoor daytime party in
Oakland." Despite being planned for a Sunday, May 17, investors should
expect to do some serious business.

New York City, NY – A bewildered crowd gathered outside the Stock Exchange today as trading literally came to a standstill.

Minutes earlier, False Profit LLC and Missing Piece had announced the third incarnation of Alchemy from a runway they set up inside the Exchange. Sneaking past security, the companies set up a full-on rehearsal of the interactive art event scheduled for April 25th in San Francisco. The traders stood with mouths agape, visions of 24karat couture reviving their recently downturned prospects.

“I’ve always said that nothing stops a day trader like a Solid Gold model,” said Nicole Stephenson, Director of Trader Aesthetics at False Profit, LLC.

Immediately following Missing Piece’s Solid Gold Fashion Side Show, the Interactivity Index spiked to tenfold as the Exchange turned carnie and the crowd pushed their way inside. Traders crammed into photo booths already stuffed with clouds of cotton candy while investors perfected their jigs in front of video cameras in a frenzy of post-economic activity. Hands raised in victory near the Feats of Arcadery were masked inside sock puppets, adding to the fervor.

“Few things energize a mob like a painted lady,” said Jason Seigler, Senior Analyst of Movement Dynamics at False Profit, LLC, “especially once they realize they get to paint the lady.”

Normally closing its doors at 4pm EST, officials were forced to keep the Exchange open until 2am when the last throng of revelers stumbled out, faces painted, and clutching balloon animals.

Following on the success of February’s Stimulus, False Profit, LLC is teaming up with Missing Piece this April to bring you Alchemy, an interactive and collaborative live art event of carnivalesque proportions.

San Francisco, CA – As Federal Reserve officials sifted through the rubble of the US economy for yet undiscovered scraps of copper piping, traders on Wall Street reeled from the announcement of yet another economic term they were forced to pretend to understand: recessionary bass.

“First it was surplus value, then credit default swaps, and now – I mean, what the hell is it? Recessionary bass?” said one incredulous investor. “I call bullshit.”

Psycho-economists specializing in low-end analysis at False Profit’s Institute for Applied Joy were in the midst of a depression study when they noticed that, in long periods of post-industrial economic collapse, participants who self-medicated with low-frequency stimulation reported symptoms that were both less severe and less frequent than the rest of the study group.

“Apparently, being able to ‘feel’ the bass helped participants hold onto something real in our otherwise completely imaginary economy,” said Natalie Johnston, Senior Neurotransmission Mechanic at the Institute.

“I would tell any skeptic to take a look at the Wall Street Journal, then stroll over to those speaker stacks and tell me they don’t believe in recessionary bass,” said Rosco Petracula, a Robust Objects Analyst for False Profit, LLC.

Because of the dramatic success of low-end therapy, ethics dictated that all participants immediately be given access to the subwoofers. The Institute went a step further, announcing that they are expanding treatment to everyone.

In an effort to fight the crippling depression, False Profit, LLC will be holding a six-hour bass therapy session, Stimulus, on Saturday, February 21st at Cellspace. All are encouraged to attend.

Even Wall Street is getting behind Stimulus.

“Consumer confidence increases when consumers aren’t incredibly depressed,” said Fed Chairmen Ben Bernanke, in a rare off-the-cuff remark while clutching a 10-pound coil of copper wire.

Obama and White Privilege in My Community

I am really embarrassed by some of the things I have heard white liberals saying about Barack Obama. Some of the things I have heard:

"He's not actually black, because he's half-white".

"Michael Jordan is black. Obama is black-ish."

"I wish people would stop talking about the factor of race in Obama's success. Can't we just move on?"

"Obama could be an Uncle Sam, or he could be an Uncle Tom"

Why do white liberals continue to talk about the black identity and experience as if they are authorities on it? It's really embarrassing that so many white "liberals" and "revolutionaries" refuse to critically examine our own privilege and role in the white supremacist power structure. White liberals cannot speak as if we know the experience of growing up with brown skin in this country. Racial identity is a social construct anyways, "black" isn't a kind of DNA or blood type. But it IS a very tangible social identity that is used by our society to describe brown-skinned people of African descent. This identity has been used to enslave and systematically disenfranchise people with brown skin since the inception of our society.

With this identity and the history associated with it, why do white liberals think we have the right to validate it or say whether or not someone is "black"???? It is really embarrassing to hear so-called "liberals" let alone "revolutionary" people flaunting their own white privilege to talk about whether or not someone is black enough or a sell-out to the black community.

WAKE UP! If you really want to change racial inequality, stop acting like you are an authority on black culture! Step back and listen to what the black community is actually saying- you don't have to agree or disagree.

We just elected a black president in a society where virtually nobody thought this was possible only decades ago. The factor of race in this election is NOT to be ignored, avoided, or marginalized. It SHOULD be talked about, and that dialog should be OPEN without fear. We, as "white liberals", have the privilege to choose to be 'colorblind', however, our society is NOT colorblind, and nothing we do is going to change the realities that people of different skin colors face on the streets, and in the workplaces and homes of America.

Let's take this incredible time in our society to keep a dialog open and continue to challenge our own roles for the greater good.

I know it's been a long time since I've put a mix online, so I hope this doesn't disappoint. If you've had a chance to hear me play in the last year, then you might not be surprised to hear the style of this mix. But if you've only been listening to mixes you've downloaded of mine, be prepared for something a bit different than you're used to. This set was recorded while I was playing at False Profits "Priceless" campout towards the end of 2008, and since it's an opening set, it starts out very chill. You might recognize a couple of the 1st few tracks, but after that the majority of them are fairly new. I had a ton of fun playing this set & even forgot that I was recording for a while, so there's a bunch of little tricks, stabs, & cross-overs. I bet you can't count them all.

Dear Tribe.net,

I’d like to start by saying that I am a dedicated Tribe.net user. I’ve been with you guys through thick and thin, uptimes and downtimes, and unlike everyone in the world and their sister’s cousin’s boyfriend, have NOT joined Facebook. This is largely because I felt Tribe shared my values, promoted a sense of community, and supported the needs/desires/well-being of the people I care about.

It was with utmost disappointment, sadness and more than a little anger that I found a “Yes on Prop. 8” ad posted on Tribe.net this morning. To make matters far worse (although, it wouldn’t have really mattered where it was posted), the ad appeared next to the voter’s guide that members of my community had dedicated many hours to create and elected to share with others to help them make an educated vote. Proposition 8 not only promotes discrimination, IT WRITES IT INTO LAW. It is regressive, discriminatory, prejudiced, ugly and, yeah, hateful. With Tribe.net being a place where diversity of all kinds is encouraged, I found it disturbing to find this ad on its pages.

I don’t know much about the complexities of internet advertising, but I assume you contract out with a 3rd party to take care of all your ads. Meaning that it’s possible, or even likely that you have no idea that this ad is running on your site. I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt here. Regardless, it is within your power to see that this ad, and any others that promote prejudiced, small-minded thinking are removed from the site. I am asking you to consider the goals of your site and the desires of its users and take down this ad as soon as possible.

I’ve attached a screen shot and will have started a thread asking others to write to you about this issue. I would love to soon start another thread thanking Tribe.net for their attention to this matter, the removal of the ad and for contacting me to let me know that I was heard.

I would like to continue to support Tribe.net knowing that it has the interests of the community it supports in mind and cares about their values. I clearly cannot speak for all Tribe.net users, but I think the vast majority of them would be very upset to learn of this behavior.

I am an idiot...

If a guy asked you "do you have a light"? ...then took your lighter, and threw it in the river... that was me.

I have been thinking about this since Sunday night, and I just feel like a total lame ass. Some people thought it was funny. (mainly my friends who know me) But for some reason I started doing it to strangers. And of course, the joke just didn't translate if you don't know me.

I don't want to make excuses, but I was really drunk. Getting too drunk, is something I have been struggling with for the last couple of years, and this is why. And it just makes me realize that my drinking must stop. Priceless was full of amazing people, and it makes me feel so stupid.

I thought about whether I should post this publicly or not, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized this is the only chance I have of hopefully reaching the people I pulled this lame ass, mean joke on, in the hopes of expressing some sort of apology.

Hello, for those of you who haven't met me yet, my name is Joshua - and I just moved out here from Austin. My wanderings through the culture here led me to priceless - following the sound of good music gets you far. Well, anyways, I just want to say that I was totally blown away by the event - my first real intimate phamily gathering in the area. Kudos to false profit for getting it all together with the dopest lineup ive experienced all year - and wow, the quality of people in attendance matched the music for sure.

Those of you that I met seem to be wonderful people, I cant wait to see and experience more of this community! After priceless, I officially decided I'm staying in SF - so if you want to hang out with the new kid on the block sometimes, feel free to contact me. Missing item from Priceless 2008 (Bobcat Fur)

A bobcat fur was removed from the restaurant/lounge on Saturday night during the magic show. It has rather significant sentimental value to our beloved hosts. My guess is that it was removed by someone accidentally, either for its warmth or intrigue-ness. I am very interested in getting it returned if at all possible.

If you accidentally took it, please do contact me, The Massive Bri. If you know of someone who maliciously took it (though I dearly hope this is not the case) please do help me find it so that I can return it. Complete discretion is assured.

If you really really really need a bobcat skin for some reason, please let me know, I will get you a bobcat skin, if I can return Belden's skin to the town.

If the concept of animal skin being used as decoration causes you distress, I cannot fault your opinion, but if this was an act of protest of some kind, I beg of you to allow me to return this artifact to its owner, again, great sentimental value is attached to this item.

To begin, a short list, titled "A List of People Excited About Priceless"

Okay, on to business. This will be the final note to all of you unless, god forbid, the whole damn area catches on fire and we need to postpone the event (hey, you in the back, stop laughing! that isn't funny!). Thanks in advance for taking the time to read through this and forward this on to anyone you sold a ticket to or bought a ticket for. Getting this information to you goes a long way towards making thing run smoothly up in Belden. Also, be sure to check the packing list at the bottom of this email. Okay, let's get into it.

Short things:

* The gates will open at 5pm on Friday and we'll need everyone to be gone by 3pm on Sunday.
* Priceless is a Leave No Trace event. Please plan on packing out ALL of your trash and recycling.
* When you arrive, please be patient with our Arrivals Team/Gate Staff. They're doing the best they can and are working to get you checked in as quickly as possible. Please listen to and respect their instructions. Thanks.
* Parking will be at a premium, please park tightly and where instructed. You will not be able to park where you camp, but we will let you drop stuff at a convenient location. Remember, there is a required $25/car permit fee.
* Let's hope none of you need this info, but...If there are any medical emergencies, we have professional medics available 24 hours a day at the tent marked MARS.
* Please, please, please keep your clothes on and your booze discreet. This is very important. We like drunkandnaked too, but this kind of behavior puts the entire event in jeopardy. If you're planning on drinking, bring plenty of reusable plastic cups. Travel mugs work well, have tops, and keep your bevvy cool.
* There will be a communal eating area by the lodge with grills and picnic tables set up to encourage less isolation in the camp grounds and more community in the town center.
* Also, we're thrilled to announce that for the first time, Priceless will have a food vendor! Please support Ti Couz who will be serving up for sweet and savory crepes on Saturday outside the Lodge. You are highly encouraged to BYO plates, cups, and utensils to use at the food booth.
* And don't forget about brunch! We'll have stuff ready for you around 9:30 on Sunday near the mainstage. BYO plates, cups, utensils!!!
* SEUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Which side do you butter your bread on??? Better decide quick. 6-8pm, Saturday at the main stage.
* As a reminder, there only ten spots available for the flame tree workshop. To secure your spot before Priceless, contact brett [at] false-profit [dot] com. Price of the class is $30 for materials and can be paid beforehand or on-site. The workshop will happen on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm with a fire ceremony on the beach after Seusstime.

Passenger Van
* We've found a last minute passenger van going to Priceless Friday evening, returning Sunday evening.
* Round trip $35/person.

Tubing safety
* You must wear river shoes when tubing. Bring them with you if you plan to tube.
* Do not cross highway to start tubing.
* Please keep your feet up and out of the water while tubing.
* Exit river at safe areas marked by signs.

Fire spinning
* All fire performers must pre-register with Naomi by emailing safety.pricless@false-profit.com.
* Due to high fire danger fire performance is only allowed directly in front of lodge for performers who have pre-registered. Fire performances will be at 10 pm Friday night and 10 pm Saturday night. Safety will be present at this time.
* Fire performers be sober and have safety present at all times when lighting up

Packing
* Bring your friggin' tickets! The event is SOLD OUT and if you do not bring your tickets, there's nothing we can do to get you in.
* Guests picking up secondhand will-call tickets (say, you bought a ticket from someone else) will need a photocopy of original customer's driver's license and note from them. Yes, we're serious about this and yes it's for your own good.
* Please *bring your own trash bags* and make sure you plan to pack out everything you're bringing in.
* Bring percussion instruments for percussion workshop at 2 PM Saturday, and sunset open jam at 8:30 PM Saturday evening. (But please don't bring your percussion instruments to the dancefloor or beach when DJs are playing...thanks!)
* The False Profit Semi-Arbitrary Guide to Buying Food and Gear is posted on Tribe at http://tinyurl.com/4y8q6f and on our website at http://priceless.false-profit.com/sustainability/sustainable-shopping/. Please check it for a list of stores to consider when stocking up for the weekend!
* Don't forget to inflate your tires for better gas mileage!

* Plastic cup to keep your alcoholic beverage in.

Priceless Update--Arrivals, Food, and More

Okay, comin' atcha again...

How 'bout less witty banter this time and we go straight to the info, cool? Cool. One quick thing we want to point out is that both nights of music are looking pretty incredible, so don't plan on rolling up late on Friday, pitching your tent and passing out. That would be a HUGE mistake, since we're gonna blow it up big both nights this year.

Arrival Info
The gates open to Priceless at 5pm on Friday, September 26. We advise you to get there early as we have a stellar night ahead of us. At 6pm, we're invite everyone to join us around the tube in the Lodge for the Presidential Debate live on PBS. But if politics isn't your thing, you'll still want to arrive early because music starts at 10pm and the Friday night lineup includes Kaptin Kirk, Nanda, Spooky Mamaz, Mimosa, Random Rab and a slew of other sets you also won't want to miss. Fire Spinning Registration--Important!

* Swing by the Ti Couz stand (yep, straight to Belden from 16th and Valencia) for sweet and savory crepes available on Saturday outside the Lodge. We're super stoked to have these guys at the event and they're equally excited to be there.

We know we've been pretty quiet for a while; we figured there wasn't much point talking while y'all had all that dust in your ears. In the coming weeks we'll be sending a couple important notes out in preparation and anticipation of our exciting weekend in Belden together. Can you guys help out and be sure to forward them to anyone you may have bought a ticket for or sold your ticket to? Much appreciated, thank you.

We're gonna keep this note fairly brief and to the point...But above all, and as important as all of the logistical details coming up, we want to tell you how FRIGGIN' EXCITED we are for Priceless '08 v2. No, really. We're super stoKed and hope you are too. In case you missed it, there have been some changes to the lineup, check the full list here, but in addition to all the hotshit that's stayed on the lineup from before, we've added LAZER SWORD, Eliot Lipp, Johnny Cota, E.L.F. Gabriel and others. The Art will be off the hook, bigger and badder than Belden has ever seen. The Seuss Party will still be the most sillyfun you've had in a while (see below) and the beach party will by the hypest blend of floaty toys, sunscreen and muffincrunkcore since The Crystal Method played Daytona Beach, Spring Break '99 (don't tell me you missed that because I've got polaroids of you on the boardwalk acting hyphy and sporting Mardi Gras beads).

About Exchanging Tickets
We know there has been quite a bit of ticket exchanging happening as a result of the date change. That's cool, since we'd hate to see tickets go to waste. Unfortunately we have no buses scheduled for priceless, which means that our already very tight parking situation will be even tighter. Flame Tree Workshop Registration
In this construction class, you will build your very own propane flame effect. It's called a propane Burner Effect, one of the simplest to create, and produces up to 25 flames with 4-8" tails. You will be provided with all materials, tools, and propane and participate in a lighting ceremony on the beach. Only ten spots available for this workshop. About the Saturday Evening Seuss Party
As you will hopefully recall, the original plan for Priceless weekend included a Dr. Seuss Birthday Party on Saturday afternoon, with much fanfare and trumpets and costumes and whatnot. This plan, we announce gleefully, has not changed!!! Stay tuned for a few more details early next week. In the meantime, don't forget your costume ;)

Priceless Update--Thanks for Your Patience

Dearest Campers,

First, thank you so much for your patience during this challenging process we're going through. Your letters of support, compassion and assistance have been truly touching. The greatest lesson we have learned in this whole process is that we are part of a wonderful community. Thank you to all that joined us last weekend celebrating at the BBQ in Tilden park and at EVAC! It brings us so much joy to see your smiling faces, especially during such difficult circumstances.

Second, down to business. False Profit over the past week, despite everything else that has been happening, has been drawing up plans for rescheduling Priceless. We have been talking to the folks up in Belden, to djs, to artists, volunteers and to the folks at Inticketing to find out the best way to take all of the energy and excitement leading up to this past weekend and transfer it into an equally amazing event come later this summer.

Where are we at with all this? Unfortunately, still in process. However, we don't just want to leave you hanging and that's why we're send you this note. But there is a plan. Next week all of the planners will be meeting to finalize the:

1) ticket exchange/refund policy developed with our friends at Inticketing

2) date for the rescheduled Priceless

As soon as we reach consensus on these two things next week, we'll draft another email to you to let you know the results. We hope this works for everyone. We're moving as fast as we can to get everything accomplished so that we can mark off in our calendars when we'll be playing in the woods together this Summer. Once again, thanks so much for everything.

Priceless v2.0--September 26-28, 2008

Campers,

The time has come. Let's just get it out of the way, Priceless is officially on for September 26-28. Its gonna be exciting and wonderful and lovely, just as we were dreaming it to be in July. It will happen in Belden, CA again, the traditional site of our summer retreat. We are proud to bring our event there, not only because of the scenic location and the lovely Feather River, but because we now honor those hard working people who stuck with us up until July 3rd when we decided to postpone the event. Since then, they have worked every day surrounded by fire, bravely hosting the local firefighters and providing them with a place of nourishment and respite.

Priceless v2 will be very similar to how it was originally planned. It will be a little cooler (80's during the day, 50's at night) and a little more of a celebration of the end of summer, rather than the beginning, but a celebration of our community nonetheless. Its been a crazy summer and we have a lot to celebrate. There will likely be some changes to the music, art and activities we originally put together, but we're doing our best to keep things as close as possible and to fill in the gaps with new delights. We will continue to update the website with this information as it comes in and email you if needed. So please, mark your calendars.

We understand that there are will, undoubtedly, be a few of you who will sadly not be able to gather with us because of the rescheduling. It is our priority to help you out. We have been talking to Inticketing and together have set up a refund policy. The policy is that refunds are available to all ticket holders for the next TWO WEEKS ONLY (ending 11:59pm July 31st) with no exceptions. San Francisco, CA (via Belden, CA) – While mainstream economists have been obsessing over soaring oil prices, economists at False Profit, LLC — more concerned with Life Quality Averages — have been glued to the screens watching the results of soaring global temperatures.

The results are not good: Belden is burning.

False Profit, LLC’s annual Life Quality Enhancement product, Priceless, was scheduled for release in Belden this coming weekend but has been recalled due to uncontained pre-apocalyptic wildfire. Insiders at the company are reporting that Priceless is now set for release later this summer.

In response, False Profit’s Research and Development Brigade worked frantically for two days to develop a replacement product. False Profit’s first response to the statewide catastrophe, called EVAC!, is set to be unveiled at a warehouse location in San Francisco on Saturday, July 5th, 2008.

We didn’t start the fire… but we do know how to heat up the dancefloor.

After an emergency EVAC! this weekend — moving us from the riverside forest in Belden to a friendly warehouse in the city — False Profit demonstrated that when the heat gets turned up, there’s nothing to do but keep your cool. This Wednesday we continue our escapade, cooking up more community connections and fresh sounds, as we take refuge from the wildfires wreaking havoc in other parts of the state.

As with EVAC! this past Saturday, we are still looking to recoup some of the costs related to rescheduling Priceless, while also showcasing some of the talent that didn’t get to share their music with you in the forest. Donations are greatly appreciated... look for the box next to the pizzas.

Things are HELLUV dramatic and crazy here at False Profit HQ.

It is with sadness that we bring you the following news: We will not be having Priceless 2008 this weekend in Belden.

In the end, the choice wasn't ours. The woods are on fire and Highway 70 remains closed in both locations and an evacuation order remains in place for the community of Belden. We send positive thoughts and well wishes to all of the affected communities in the area.

We've been scrambling to find an alternate location and at the last possible minute, it looks like something may have come through.

We ask for your patience as we scope this location, we have a team on the way to determine if this property is feasible.

We will have a final answer about this venue within 2 hours, hopefully by 5 pm today.

If this venue is not workable, we are going to throw a kickass jumpoff throwdown to rock your faces off here in the city on Saturday night. We have an underground warehouse location secured and an insane dj lineup including some of the headliners that would have been at Priceless.

We know it's tough to remain without information, these are trying times for all of us. Thank you all again for remaining flexible and patient, we will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

Hello Fun Seekers,

It’s been a pretty dramatic 24 hours for us. Here’s the latest news:

Priceless 2008 will be postponed to a later weekend this summer.
This weekend, we're gonna rock your faces with an event in the city, see below for more info.

As we’ve communicated up to now, the woods are on fire. There is no access to the original site in Belden and residents of the small community have been asked to evacuate the area. We’ve been on the phone to pretty much every conceivable property owner in the area and nothing seems workable. We want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to all those who have sent in suggestions, there have been some leads that seemed promising, that’s why we’ve waited until now with this decision.

Here’s where we are now:
We have decided that the best option is to reschedule Priceless 2008. We ask for your patience while we are figure out the best weekend to hold our event, it takes a little while to hammer out the details of staffing, venue and logistics. We'll let you know as soon as we reach a conclusion, likely in the coming weeks.

We also ask you, our community, for your support in this process. In addition to being a tragedy for the affected communities, the fires in Plumas county and the subsequent postponement of our event will have a huge impact on us, energetically, logistically and financially. We understand that some of you may not able to attend our event later this summer due to scheduling conflicts, but we ask you to do everything possible to find someone to sell your tickets to. We're not sure yet what the refund process will look like, but we do know that we’ll do everything possible to find a fair solution for all involved.

So, it looks like there's now a whole lot of people without plans for the weekend...Guess what, we’ve scrambled to line up something amazing. Join us on Saturday night for EVAC, a place for you to direct all that energy you had stored up for Priceless. As mentioned in the last email, while we can’t say much yet, we do know that IT'LL BLOW YOUR FRIGGIN' PANTS OFF. Those of you who have been to False Profit events in the past know that we do not fuck around and Saturday night will be no exception. This party will be at a local underground location. The insane lineup will be announced soon, but you can definitely expect a couple of the headliners that you would have seen at Priceless to blow it way the fuck up. IMPORTANT PRICELESS UPDATE

Greetings Priceless Campers,

We met for four hours last night and have been anxiously checking the fire and highway conditions near Belden. We've also been on and off the phone with all relevant officials trying to get the most information possible.

It is with great sadness that we bring you the following news: We will not be having Priceless 2008 this weekend in Belden.

In the end, the choice wasn't ours, as Highway 70 remains closed and an evacuation order remains in place for the community of Belden. We send positive thoughts and well wishes to all of the affected communities in the area.

We have scrambled in every way possible to find an alternate location and so far nothing has proved workable for this weekend.

So, where does that leave us? We're not sure at the moment and we need a little more time to figure things out. Our team is moving ahead full force on two fronts:

One
We are doing everything we can to identify a venue for 600 people for this weekend, if you know of anything that might work (trust us, we've tried all the obvious locations), please contact stephen(at)false-profit(dot)com; we have set a deadline of 3pm for ourselves to find and secure a backup venue for Priceless this weekend.

Two
If we postpone the event to a later weekend this summer, our team is working on lining up a kickass party here in the Bay Area for Saturday night, stay tuned for details. We can't reveal much yet, but trust us, IT'LL BLOW YOUR FRIGGIN' PANTS OFF. Those of you who have been to False Profit events in the past know that we do not fuck around and Saturday night will be no exception.

Thanks for your patience and support in all this, this is a trying time for everyone involved. We'll let you know as soon as we reach a decision, which we imagine will be no later than 3:00pm today. We'll keep our website updated, please check www.priceless.false-profit.com for the most up to date information.

We understand that it is difficult to deal with changing plans, believe us, it's pretty tough on our end too. Priceless Update--Fires and Road Closures

Hello Priceless Attendees,

As you are aware, there have been some pretty serious fires in Northern California, many in Plumas county, where Belden is located. This is where we have held Priceless for the past two years and have been planning our event for this year.

Recent developments are as follows:

*Hwy 70 is closed for the entire length of the canyon going in both directions (from Oroville to Quincy). Belden is in the middle of the road closure. There is debris from the fire up in the mountain occassionally falling into the road. This is the only route to Belden.

*There is a new small, yet very present, fire .5mi west of Belden.

*According to the manager of Belden, there are military helicopters prioritizing putting out this fire.

One important thing for you all to know is this: We are committed to only throwing this event if we are certain that we can do so safely and responsibly.

We are writing to you now to give you heads up that there is a chance that we will move or reschedule the event. While these are far from our first choices, we want to be sure that we are able to throw a safe and comfortable event. While we wait for more information from Fire Officials, Highway Officials and others, we wanted to make sure to keep all of you in the loop.

All afternoon on July 4th we'll be getting things going at Priceless properly with Open Decks and Open Grilles from 2 to 8 PM, with your humble host, me, JD. Performers take note! Slots will be available on a first-to-show-up-and-find-me-gets-their-pick basis. We'd love to have you share your sounds with us! We'll also have the grilles fired-up (including dedicated Veggie grille) and a tasty array of condiments to complement whatever grille-able items you bring. Remember, sharing makes for good neighbors! Just follow the bass freakiness coming from behind the lodge to find the fun.

Then, from 8 PM 'till 11 that night, it's Open Decks at the Chill Stage, hosted by Maer. Find the good Mr. Maer at the stage to register your interest... And be sure to mind the speed limit! It will be strictly enforced, I'm sure... ;-)
